The Estate

Le Miccine offers privacy and solitude without being remote.  The estate covers over 30 acres (12.75 hectares) and is bounded by two rivers and woods.  This private world is, however, directly accessible from the Strada Traversa Chiantigiana, the paved road that runs through Le Miccine's high valley between the historic towns of Gaiole and Radda.

Le Miccine's Chianti Classico vineyards occupy approximately 14 acres of the estate.  Their south and west exposures to the sun and average elevation of 380 meters are ideal.  The cantina and aging cellars sit in the middle of the vineyards.  Click Wines and Oil for more information about Le Miccine's production methods and products.

The rest of the property is devoted to woods, meadows, fruit and olive orchards, and the lawns and gardens that surround the casa colonica, the large, old farmhouse that sits in the center of the estate.  Up a short path from the house, through a newly planted, terraced garden, are the sun terrace and a  large, deep swimming pool, the unique design of which gives the spectacular illusion of water cascading over the hillside into the horizon.  Le Miccine's woods, which connect to a network of horse and foot paths, invite both peaceful strolls and energetic hikes.   The farm's fruit trees and vegetable garden provide guests with fresh fruit, walnuts, and produce.

In short, Le Miccine is much more than another "house in Tuscany."  It is an active wine estate where the ancient rhythms of cultivation and vinification provide a brief escape from the more artificial pace of modern life.  The house, gardens, and pool provide a wonderful sanctuary for relaxation before and after busy days of sight-seeing in the Tuscan hills and nearby cities and towns.  At the end of the day, gastronomic delights await at the many charming country restaurants that dot the hills around Le Miccine.  In the morning, sleep in or enjoy coffee on the terrace, instead of packing up to drive to the next cramped hotel room.
